(Grade 3 to Grade 11) Ivrit 21C: Breaking the Language Barrier

October 22 @ 9:30 am - 11:45 am

Smadar Goldstein, Educator, JETS

Workshop Code: #LL8
Room: 330

Participants in this session will be surprised to find the degree to which the use of educational technology can help Hebrew teachers overcome some of the natural challenges that they face in teaching Hebrew, and the added value it provides. The program will familiarize participants with the use of specific written, oral recording, and video recording online tools in Hebrew instruction, and the methodologies that they support. Participants will learn the power of these tools to:

  • virtually take students “beyond the context of the classroom” to encounter and utilize Hebrew on contemporary and interesting topics;
  • enable students to access authentic Hebrew in both receptive proficiency modes (reading and listening), and to express themselves in both expressive proficiency modes (writing and speaking); and
  • maximize student engagement and collaborative interaction both in the classroom and on homework assignments.

Hands-on activities will show participants how to apply the tools and methodologies to their own curricula.

Requirements: Bring a laptop or a tablet
